Health Care-Over the Top
Rising health care is becoming more and more a concern among individuals and businesses alike. Medical expenses are soaring through the roof and businesses are becoming more concerned about whether they can offer health care to their
employees in the future. Likewise, the individual is concerned about taking care of their families.
Managed care is the most commonly used service in small companies today. Many small companies cannot offer any health at all. Managed care is the most beneficial way to offer health care to your employees.
Managed care consists of PPOs (Preferred Provider Organization), HMOs (Health Maintenance Organizations) and POS (Point-
of-Service) options. These are options that Insurance Agencies offer the Employer in order to make it affordable for both the
employees and the employers. With the continuing rise of gas prices and food prices, etc. everyone has to consider the options
available and affordable to their particular situation and needs.
Three health care services to consider:
HMO: This service consists of a group of physicians who agree to accept pre-determined rates for their services. It also
usually has co-payments for office calls, prescriptions, and hospital services.
PPO: PPO also consists of a group of physicians, pharmacies, and hospitals and they require a co-payment. The
primary care physician can refer you to a physician not in the PPO group.
POS: The POS is an HMO which allows the patient to go to a physician in the HMO group or to another physician
not in the service. However, the service they receive from the outside physician will be limited.
The health care service you decide to subscribe to will depend on your financial status and the needs of your employees.
After all, if not for them, you would not have a business. Take care of them and they will take care of you.
